Policies
This page summarizes Informatica’s key editorial and publishing policies. Detailed policies are available on the linked pages (Publication Ethics, Open Access & Licensing, APC & Fees, Guide for Authors, Reviewer Guidelines, and Publication Timeline & Review). These policies are maintained to align with recognized best-practice expectations for integrity and transparency in scholarly publishing.
Peer review and editorial oversight
- Peer review model: Informatica uses single-blind peer review (reviewers may see author identities; reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors).
- External peer review: Primary research articles are subject to external peer review and editorial oversight.
- Process and timelines: See Publication Timeline & Review.
- Reviewer conduct: See Reviewer Guidelines.
Publication ethics and research integrity
Informatica maintains a Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement covering:
- originality, plagiarism, and redundant publication
- authorship and contributorship
- conflicts of interest and funding disclosure
- ethical oversight (e.g., human participants/sensitive data)
- data integrity (fabrication/falsification) and citation manipulation
- complaints and appeals
- corrections, retractions, expressions of concern
- post-publication discussion and record maintenance
See Publication Ethics for full details.
Conflicts of interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to disclose any relationships that could be perceived as influencing the work or the evaluation process. Conflicts are managed by reassignment or other safeguards to protect impartiality.
(Details: Publication Ethics and Reviewer Guidelines.)
Data, code, and reproducibility
To support reproducibility, authors are encouraged to:
- describe methods and materials in sufficient detail;
- share data/code/models via trusted repositories where feasible; and
- include a Data/Code Availability statement where appropriate.
If sharing is restricted (privacy, security, contractual limits, or IP), authors should state the reason and describe access conditions.
(Details: Publication Ethics and Guide for Authors.)
Use of AI-assisted tools
- Authors: AI-assisted tools may be used to improve clarity and presentation, but the scientific contribution must remain the authors’ own, and authors remain fully responsible for accuracy, originality, and citation. Material use of generative AI should be disclosed in the manuscript.
- Reviewers: Confidentiality comes first—reviewers must not upload manuscripts (or substantial parts) into external tools that may store or reuse content. Tools may be used only in ways that do not compromise confidentiality, and never as a replacement for human scholarly judgment.
(Details: Publication Ethics and Reviewer Guidelines.)
Open access, copyright, and licensing
- Informatica provides immediate open access to published content (no embargo).
- Articles are published under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 (CC BY 3.0).
- Authors may share the preprint, accepted manuscript, and version of record, provided the original publication is properly cited and the DOI/link is included where available.
- Third-party material may be excluded from the CC license if rights are not held by the authors.
(Details: Open Access & Licensing.)
Fees and funding (no surprise fees)
- The journal does not charge a mandatory APC for standard publication.
- Optional expedited handling tiers and any service fees (including payment rules) are described on APC & Fees.
- No surprise fees: the journal charges only what is explicitly stated on the APC & Fees page; any optional author-requested service is offered only with a written quote and author approval in advance.
Archiving and long-term access
The journal maintains a complete online archive on informatica.si. The journal’s plan for digital backup and long-term preservation (e.g., via established preservation services when enabled) is stated on the journal website.
Privacy and data protection
Personal data submitted through the journal website (such as names and email addresses) are used for journal operations (submission, peer review, publication communication) and are not shared for unrelated purposes.
(Details: Privacy Statement / Contact / Journal Help.)
Funding and advertising
Informatica is published by the Slovenian Society Informatika. The journal is financially supported by the Slovenian Research Agency through the Call for co-financing of scientific periodical publications. The journal does not receive financing from private commercial entities for editorial operations.
Advertising: Informatica does not publish advertising and does currently not accept advertising as part of its journal operations.
Editorial decisions are independent of any financial support and are based solely on scholarly merit.
Corrections, retractions, and post-publication discussion
The journal may issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record. Substantiated post-publication concerns may be reviewed and addressed through editorial action.
