Instructions for Authors
-
To contribute, please upload your manuscript here. You can also send your paper to one of the members of the Editorial Board by e-mail. If submitting an overview paper, send it to the overview papers editor. All the addresses can be found here.
-
Informatica research papers must present original work that has not been published and is not under review by another journal. Extended versions of papers published in conferences will be considered if they contain information not included in the conference paper. The conference paper must be cited in the extended paper.
-
Contributors of overview papers are asked to pay particular attention to proper citing of their sources. If they are quoting passages from another paper, this must be made clear.
Informatica uses anti-plagiarism tools to ensure the originality of the papers.
-
Informatica uses double-blind reviews. Therefore the information on the authors should be omitted from the submitted papers. The authors should refer to their previous work in an impersonal manner (not "In our previous work we showed ..." but "It was shown previously ..." or similar). However, the authors must include their information in the submission form.
-
If English is not your native language you may want to have your manuscript edited by a professional English copy editor prior to submission. Clear and concise language is the responsibility of the authors and will help reviewers concentrate on the scientific content of your paper and thus facilitate the peer review process. You may seek help by contacting the following professional editor who provides editorial services for a fee:
Note that the editor listed above is not associated with Informatica. Using an editing service is neither a requirement nor a guarantee of acceptance for publication.
-
An author may normally have only one paper under review by Informatica journal at a time. Furthermore, an author may not publish more than one paper per year in the journal.
-
A research paper is expected to be between 8 and 10 pages in length, although shorter and longer papers may be considered. Overview papers are expected to be longer.
-
At least two referees outside the author's country will examine the manuscript and their comments will be returned to the author. There are four possible outcomes:
-
Accept: the paper will be published as is.
-
Minor revision: the author will be required to revise the paper as per the referees' comments. The revised paper should be returned to the editor with whom the author was in contact together with a separate file detailing the changes and the replies to the referees' comments. The paper will be accepted at the editor's discretion.
-
Major revision: the author will be required to significantly revise the paper as per the referees' comments. The revised paper should be returned to the editor with whom the author was in contact together with a separate file detailing the changes and the replies to the referees' comments. The paper will then undergo another, final round of refereeing.
-
Reject: the paper will not be published.
-
Upon acceptance the author will be required to prepare the paper in either:
-
LaTeX using the Informatica Style. The author will also be required to either (i) include the figures as Encapsulated Postscript in the text, (ii) provide the Encapsulated PostScript files, or (iii) provide camera-ready copies of the figures. An example paper in LaTeX is provided and should be used as a guideline for text preparation.
-
Word using the Informatica Template. An example paper in Word is provided and should be used as a guideline for text preparation.
Authors should make sure that figures used in their papers are legible when printed in black and white (for example, series in graphs should not be distinguishable only by color).
-
-
After acceptance and before publication one of the authors is obliged to sign the Publishing agreement and send it to Informatica's editorial office either by email (scanned version) or by postal mail.
-
Upon publication the author will receive ten reprints of his/her paper. If he/she wishes to obtain the actual journal, he/she is invited to subscribe for one year. Individual issues cannot be purchased.
-
Opinions, news, conference announcements and reports, calls for papers, etc., should be sent directly to the Contact Person.
